img {display: block; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;}

NWCG currently has two formats of PTBs in use – Classic PTBs and Next Generation PTBs (Next Gen PTBs). Next Gen PTBs sprung out of the Incident Performance and Training Modernization (IPTM) effort, with the goal of increasing trainee/evaluator communication, improving evaluator feedback, and enhancing speed to competency. Next Gen PTBs have publication dates of 2024 or later.

NWCG Position Task Book Catalog

NWCG position task books (PTBs) are a key component of the qualification process for specified NWCG positions. The PTB provides an observable, measurable, and standardized means to evaluate and document trainee proficiency. Evaluation Records and PTB Verification/Certifications may be completed in hard copy or electronically provided all documentation is available to the Evaluator.
