S 260 Interagency Incident Business Management 2014 Online Delivery

Online Delivery

This online course (estimate 16 hours) exposes students to human performance concepts as part of basic wildland firefighter training. The course is designed for entry-level operational personnel; however, this course also applies to all wildland fire service personnel, including non-operational personnel.  Additional information about the course can be found on the Overview page.

Instructions

  1. Complete the online course (instructions below). You will be directed to the National Fire Academy (NFA) Online website. You will need an NFA Online account to take this course; follow directions on the NFA Online website to obtain an account. Search for course title in the catalog and add the online course to your “To-Do-List.” The NFA Online learning management system will track your progress.
  2. Print the NWCG certificate of completion (instructions below). Keep the certificate as proof of successful completion of the course.

Note: Due to network and browser security updates designed to block Adobe Flash, the S-260 online course modules do not function correctly. We are working to resolve this technical issue. 

The current work around is to assign S-260(v7) to student's To-Do-List. A text version of the course has added for download; student can review the PDFs and take the exam The “Tutorial” module has been removed and the Exam is now available without forcing the modules to be completed. Some modules may work but do not track student progress.

Access

1. Confirm the installed Adobe Reader is the current version for the browser you are using.

2. To print the online course completion certificate, log into your NFA Online account. From your Home Page select VIEW ALL in the Completed Work pod.

3. Hover mouse over the title of the course, wait for pop-up, and select PRINT CERTIFICATE.

Important Update Information

The course was updated using the 2016 version of the Interagency Incident Business Management Handbook. That publication has been replaced by the 2018 NWCG Standards for Interagency Incident Business Management, PMS 902. Be aware that there may be some discrepancy between the new standards and this course. An update to the course is underway.

The Next Generation Position Task Book and Incident Position Standards are now available for Safety Officer, Field (SOFF)

NWCG is excited to announce that the NWCG Incident Position Standards for Safety Officer, Field, PMS 350-81 and NWCG Position Task Book for Safety Officer, Field (SOFF), PMS 311-81 are now available.

The Safety Officer, Field (SOFF) is responsible for monitoring operations on an incident from a risk management perspective to provide for the welfare of incident resources and the public. The new Incident Position Standards and Next Generation Position Task Book are developed through the Incident Performance and Training Modernization (IPTM) effort.

Updated NWCG Standards for Electronic Documentation (eDoc), PMS 277

The Incident Planning Subcommittee has updated the NWCG Standards for Electronic Documentation (eDoc), PMS 277.

The NWCG Standards for Electronic Documentation (eDoc) establishes the standards for collection and retention of records on wildland fires. This July 2024 update will provide incident management teams the most current standards required to maintain incident records and submit them to host units at the close of an incident.

NWCG Off-Highway Vehicle Typing Standard Request for Comment

The Mobile Fire Equipment Subcommittee has released Equipment Bulletin 24-002 NWCG Off-Highway Vehicle (OHV) Typing Standard - Request for Comment. This bulletin outlines the proposed NWCG OHV typing standard, as well as the business need for establishing the standard. Comments on the proposed standard will be accepted through August 15th using the comment form linked below.

NWCG Standards for Airtanker Operations, PMS 514 - DRAFT

A draft version of the new NWCG Standards for Airtanker Operations, PMS 514, is now available. The NWCG Standards for Airtanker Operations establishes the standards for dispatching, utilizing, and coordinating airtankers on wildland fires. As this is the first edition of these standards, the National Interagency Aviation Committee (NIAC) requests review and input into the 2025 final publication.

Please review and provide feedback by September 1st, 2024 for consideration. Feedback can be provided utilizing the NWCG Publication Review Form.
